Please join us as we kick off the new year of the Riverside Estate Planning Council by hearing from NATIONAL SPEAKER Eido Walny as he presents on the timely topic "Tick. Tock. Thoughts and Ideas on Estate Planning in Q4 2012"!
Eido M. Walny received his J.D. from the Boston University School of Law in 2001, where he was the Executive Articles Editor of Boston University International Law Journal. He earned an A.B. in Political Science, with honors, from The University of Chicago. Mr. Walny’s practice focuses on estate planning, asset protection, and business succession. His clientele range from everyday people to professional athletes, celebrities, business owners, doctors, and lawyers. He is a frequent writer and speaker on estate planning, charitable giving methods, and topical business issues, and has appeared in local and national print media, radio and television.
A 3rd generation entrepreneur, Mr. Walny founded Walny Legal Group LLC in 2011. He provides counsel to protect and grow multi-generational family wealth, including drafting wills, revocable trusts, and irrevocable trusts designed to mitigate the effect of taxes, leverage wealth, and minimize the risk of creditors’ claims. His experience also includes structuring family and business succession plans, non-probate transfers, trust and probate administration, and preparation of guardianships. In addition, he commonly utilizes will alternatives, advances charitable giving, and does planning for families with special needs children.
Mr. Walny has been named a 2012 Forty Under 40 honoree by the Wisconsin Business Journal and a Financial Advisor magazine 2012 Private Wealth All-Star Team nominee. He has also been recognized as a Wisconsin Rising Star in Milwaukee Magazine each year since 2008, a recognition granted to fewer than 2.5% of attorneys in the state. Since the inception of the award in 2009, he has each year been named a Five Star: Best in Client Satisfaction Wealth Manager by Milwaukee Magazine. Through the National Association of Estate Planners and Counsels (NAEPC), he is certified as an Accredited Estate Planner (AEP) and an Estate Planning Law Specialist (EPLS), the latter being the highest designation for an estate planning attorney currently recognized by the American Bar Association. Fewer than fifty attorneys in the nation have attained the EPLS designation. He has also been awarded the international TEP designation from the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and in 2011, Mr. Walny was nominated for STEP’s Trusted Advisor of the Year award.
Mr. Walny is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin, the New York State Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, and the American Bar Association, as well as a member of the Milwaukee Bar Association, Waukesha County Bar Association, and Milwaukee Estate Planning Forum. He is also a member of the London-based Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), a group that offers resources for attorneys whose clients face international estate planning issues.
Mr. Walny is a Trustee for the Village of Bayside, Wisconsin, and serves on several NAEPC committees, including the NAEPC Foundation and Council Relation committees. Mr. Walny also serves on the Associate Board of Directors of the Zoological Society of Milwaukee and, along with his wife, Michelle, served as the 2011 chair of the 28th Annual Zoo Ball. Mr. Walny has been honored as a charter member by the Greater Milwaukee Foundation Mueller Society in recognition of the advancement of philanthropy, and the President’s Advisory Council of the Froedtert Hospital Foundation.
